Description:
Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, MA Per Diem
You would be responsible for performing routine and non-routine activities involved in histologic preparations. Troubleshoots minor equipment failures, prepares reagents, solutions and control slides. Performs IHC staining. Prepares reports and ensures that quality control criteria are approved by the pathologist.
What You Will Do:
+ Fixation, embedding, microtomy, processing, staining and IHC.
+ Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies, document quality control activities.
+ Ensure corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met. Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
+ Participates in department meetings and team efforts to analyze workflow processes and the performance of audits.
+ **** Provide training and guidance to new employees, and students.
+ Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and troubleshoot minor equipment failures.
+ Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork.

_What you need:_
+ **Education:** Associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both) AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program within the last 5 years;
+ **Experience:** At least 1 year experience as a Histotechnician.
+ **Certification:** HT ASCP required or be eligible to take the exam within 1 year of employment.
+ **Job** **Skills:** Must have experience in the following areas: Fixation, Microtomy, Processing, Staining, IHC
