This position is part of the AWS Specialist and Partner Organization (ASP). Specialists own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for their respective technology domains, providing the business and technical expertise to help our customers succeed. Partner teams own the strategy, recruiting, development, and growth of our key technology and consulting partners. Together they provide our customers with the expertise and scale needed to build innovative solutions for their most complex challenges.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Executive Communications Manager to lead and manage a team within the AWS Specialists and Partners (ASP) organization. This role will work closely with ASP's Specialist Vice President, Go-to-Market to scale AWS's value proposition to our customers, partners, employees, and key stakeholders. The Senior Executive Communications Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategic communications and engagement plans to enhance and promote the organization's vision and strategic goals to our internal and external audiences globally.
Foundational to success in this role is a deep passion for customer obsession, cutting-edge technology, and delivering results through effective communications. The chosen candidate will lead their team in designing messaging strategies that consider both proactive and reactive tactics based on active listening and customer and employee data and insights. They will identify high-value engagements that provide the optimal platform to reach our audiences and guide the development of compelling, data-rich content to inform and inspire them. They will maintain a balance of proactive guidance and strategy with flawless delivery to become a trusted partner to the leadership team. They must have a strong track record of delivering results by producing and overseeing high-quality, clear content, a demonstrated ability to earn and maintain trust across stakeholders, and insist on highest standards for quality, attention to detail while managing multiple projects simultaneously. The chosen candidate must be curious about new programs and initiatives impacting our customers, partners and employees and possess the ability to ask the right questions. They need to have a bias for action and balance driving versus being directed. They must be comfortable taking risks and raising the bar for new, innovative ways of doing things.
This role requires 30% - 40% global travel. You would be expected to travel with senior leadership up to one week per month and oversee your team's travel schedules.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team responsible for developing and implementing strategic messaging programs that resonate with technical audiences and line of business owners, promote engagement, and address customer needs with value-driven communications about AWS products and partner solutions.
- Oversee the creation of business and technical narratives to acquire and grow customers and partners.
- Manage the end-to-end coordination of external engagements including industry, customer, and thought leadership events.
- Ensure your team's high-caliber content sets quality benchmarks across AWS organizations, serving as a valued resource that elevates technical understanding enterprise-wide.
- Work directly with ASP Senior Leadership executives and serve as an integral part of ASP's Strategic Communications team.
- Guide your team in effectively engaging with senior executives and industry thought leaders, driving adoption of Amazon's technology solutions and services.
- Oversee the preparation of executives for internal and external speaking engagements, including the creation of content for global meetings focused on achieving business outcomes; internal communications via email or other channels; video script writing; and social media strategy, content creation and execution.
- Collaborate closely with the AWS PR, Marketing and Subject Matter Expert teams to align on communication strategies and messaging.
- Lead your team in serving as writers to senior executives for global audiences, including driving the creation and delivery of compelling, executive-level message and presentation materials.
- Develop and implement thought leadership programs and opportunities for ASP executives, to promote the business value that can be obtained by partnering with AWS.
- Manage and optimize the speaking engagement calendar with other team members to ensure alignment of key messages both internally and externally.
- Oversee the measurement and analysis of speaking engagement results to evaluate impact and guide future strategies.
- Lead your team in conducting research and monitoring industry trends and developments to identify opportunities for enhancing executive communications.
- Provide guidance and support to executives during high-pressure situations and ensure timely and accurate communication to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills within your team to work effectively with executives and stakeholders at all levels.
- Ensure your team handles sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
- 7+ years supporting senior executives
- 5+ years in a management role leading communications teams
- Experience working within the business-to-business technology sector
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and overseeing technical content for diverse, large-scale audiences
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to articulate a clear point of view on complicated issues in crisp, concise communications
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements and guide team performance
- Demonstrated experience building trust and influencing cross-functional teams and senior leaders
- Experience driving cultural change and influencing organizations through communications, from audience and stakeholder analysis through implementation and success metrics tracking
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing and mentoring communications professionals
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $132,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $219,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
