RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Develop and implement lesson plans that meet curriculum guidelines and accommodate students' language proficiency levels.

+ Teach academic subjects, such as math and science, in a second language.

+ Assess students' academic and language development progress through formal and informal evaluations.

+ Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

+ Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student achievement and well-being.

+ Collaborate closely with the District Department Chair of ENL and Bilingual Programs K-5, teachers, and building administrators to enhance instructional practices and support student success.

+ Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with teaching methods, language acquisition research, and educational technology.

+ Incorporate cultural materials and perspectives into the curriculum to enhance students' learning experiences.

+ Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other required documentation.

+ Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.

Job Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

+ Must possess or be eligible for New York State Elementary Certification with a Bilingual Extension
