    Part-Time Commercial Truck Driving Internship Instructor

    Position Summary

    North Georgia Technical College is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to serve as a Part-Time Commercial Truck Driving Internship Instructor. Under the direction of the Economic Development Department, the instructor will deliver high-quality instruction in all aspects of commercial truck driving. This includes both classroom and hands-on training in areas such as:

     

    - Visual search and communication techniques

     

    - Speed and space management

     

    - Operation of engine, primary, and secondary vehicle controls

     

    - Use of vehicle instruments

     

    - Maneuvering and stopping a commercial motor vehicle (CMV)

     

    - Shifting techniques (upshifting and downshifting)

     

    - Backing, turning, and parking procedures

     

    - Coupling and uncoupling trailers

     

    - Driver’s daily log and monthly recap

     

    - Vehicle inspection protocols

     

    - Safe operation of CMVs on various road types

     

    The instructor is expected to use effective teaching methods, maintain accurate records (including grade books), and demonstrate strong communication skills. Instruction may be scheduled during daytime or evening hours, depending on program needs.

    Minimum Qualifications

    - A valid and current Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

     

    - Strong written and verbal communication skills

     

    - Basic computer proficiency

    Preferred Qualifications

    - A minimum of five (5) years of commercial truck driving experience within the past seven (7) years

    Compensation

    Hourly wage is commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time position and does not include benefits.
