POSITION OVERVIEW :
This position serves as the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Companion Animal & Equine (CAE) Program’s Statewide Compliance Specialist.
1. As such, reviews, monitors, and ensures compliance with the Companion Animal & Equine (CAE) Program’s policies and procedures.
2. Reports directly to the CAE Deputy Program Manager and coordinates closely with
The Animal Health Section and CAE Training Coordinator.
3. Serves as a subject matter expert.
4. Responds to all urgent complaints and coordinates with internal and external

5. Takes on all complaints that demand extra expertise and continues managing the

6. Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements complaint investigations involving
Noncompliance in regulated companion animal/equine licensed establishments.
7. Establishes and maintains lines of communication and an initial contact person for all enforcement agencies.
8. Serves as a liaison to law enforcement agencies to facilitate investigations.
9. Works with CAE program management and internal/external law enforcement to
Ensure the smooth transfer of complaints that cannot be resolved with regulatory action.
10. Interprets regulatory rules and regulations to document compliance.
11. Monitors, tracks, and maintains records on compliance and noncompliance.
12. Attend court cases and administrative hearings to give testimony regarding CAE
complaints.
13. Coordinates with CAE program management; provides regulatory guidance through
The means of emails and phone calls to Georgia citizens.
14. Provides outreach, information, and education to the public, regulated community, and enforcement officers on all aspects of companion animal, equine, and associated regulatory requirements.
15. Performs inspections, investigations, and audits according to established rules,
Regulations and other statutes.
16. Reviews requirements and regulations to ensure compliance with state and federal
Rules and regulations.
17. Recommends monitoring, enforcement, and corrective actions based on investigative findings.
18. Assists the Animal Health Section with investigating potential animal
Diseases:
• Issuing quarantines
• Monitoring facilities and releasing quarantines.
19. Coordinates with agency personnel, licensed establishments, and other program areas, and USDA as necessary to ensure ongoing compliance with and enforcement of CAE rules, regulations, and policies.
20. Participates in the development, review, revision, interpretation, and/or
implementation of policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and regulations to
Effectively guide the mission of the Companion Animal/Equine Program.
21. Assists the CAE office in field components.
22. Assists and/or supports the CAE Training and Development Specialist, as needed.
Serves on the department’s incident management team (SART)
Other duties as assigned.

Associate degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of job-related experience; or three (3) years of job-related experience.
