Division: Operations/ Lafayette
The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) is seeking a Coastal Resources Scientist 4 for its Lafayette Regional Office to support critical ecosystem monitoring and management efforts. This role involves advanced scientific and technical work on long-term coastal restoration and hurricane flood protection projects, helping safeguard Louisiana’s natural resources and communities. The position plays a key role in overseeing multi-million dollar initiatives through all project phases, from preconstruction to post-construction monitoring.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: biological sciences, physical sciences, earth sciences, environmental sciences, natural sciences, engineering or a related field plus two years of experience in coastal resource management, wetland resource management, environmental science, natural resource management, or biology; OR
A master's degree in biological sciences, physical sciences, earth sciences, environmental sciences, natural sciences, engineering or a related field plus one year of experience in coastal resource management, wetland resource management, environmental science, natural resource management, or biology; OR
A Ph.D. in biological sciences, physical sciences, earth sciences, environmental sciences, natural sciences, engineering or a related field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Independently develops and implements site-specific ecosystem monitoring and management plans, conducting field assessments and utilizing advanced data acquisition technologies to evaluate project feasibility and effectiveness, while preparing detailed technical reports for stakeholders
+ Supports management of monitoring and data collection for major coastal restoration and flood protection projects, assists in developing scientific methods for ecosystem management, evaluates restoration techniques, and provides technical recommendations and reviews to senior staff
+ Mentors and provides technical guidance to junior Coastal Resources Scientists, supporting their training and career development while ensuring the quality, accuracy, and consistency of their work in alignment with organizational policies
+ Represents the Operations Division of CPRA Implementation at conferences, workshops, seminars, public meetings, etc.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Promotional( Promotion of a permanent, classified CPRA employee. )
Compensation: The bi-weekly minimum hire rate established for this position in accordance with CPRA’s Special Entrance Rate Policy is $2,192.80. The maximum salary for the Coastal Resources Scientist 4 is $90,022 annually.
