Responsibilities
The Authorization Supervisor will provide direct support for the team that verifies insurance benefits, provides patient estimates, and obtains authorizations and referrals for office visits, procedures, and elective surgeries.
Responsibilities for Authorization Supervisor
+ Coordinates, supervises and is accountable for providing daily leadership and oversight to authorization team members in multiple Practice Management systems to ensure that prior authorizations are obtained timely and accurately with little disruption to scheduling.
+ Maintains infrastructure to complete verification of benefits and estimates for every scheduled service.
+ Tracks pre-collection of services and provides feedback for ongoing process improvement.
+ Closely monitors incoming authorization requests and develops staffing to ensure requests are actioned timely.
+ Resolves operational problems and escalated issues pertaining to obtaining referrals or authorizations from Primary Care Physicians or payers.
+ Collaborates with Operations to ensure that procedure scheduling aligns with payer timelines.
+ Provides direction, support, and training for team members and development opportunities.
+ Assist in leading department initiatives that reach across multiple teams coordinating work activities with other supervisors
+ Establish departmental controls and ensure that deadlines are met setting priorities for the team to ensure task completion.
+ Work to ensure that all processes are consistent throughout the department with decisions guided by policies, procedures, and business plans.
+ Initiate various personal actions including but not limited to:
+ 90 Day Review
+ Annual Performance Reviews
+ Disciplinary notices; Performance Improvement Plans
+ Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
+ 5+ years of relevant experience including 1-2 years supervisory experience that includes conducting coaching/training of team members.
+ Experience with insurance regulations, clinical review, and prior authorization.
+ Excellent ability to conduct quality assurance audits to evaluate performance measures and using the findings create written reports with recommendations.
