    Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, located in Bakersfield, California, is an acute psychiatric and behavioral 90 bed facility situated on 8.8 acres.

     

    We offer inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults needing mental/behavioral health, chemical dependency; and co-occurring disorders treatment through our medically supervised detoxification.

    Job Summary

    Creates, directs, and implements the policies and procedures for the Intake Department. Ensures a high level of quality care and services for patients by coordinating and communicating operational procedures to staff and various departments. Monitors, evaluates, and modifies operational systems while adhering to company guidelines and standards. Directs and manages day-to-day operations for our Intake Department and staff. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team supporting the organization's treatment and philosophy, and assures the delivery of quality treatment to patients and their families.

     

    The Director of Intake is responsible for the success, accountability, and oversight of the admission process. Manages the day-to-day operations of Intake to ensure safe and appropriate care is provided to those referred to and presenting for assessment for mental health and chemical dependency services. This position ensures the direction and implementation of operating policies, processes, and initiatives. This includes providing coaching and supervision to staff to meet and support organizational objectives.

     

    The Annual Salary for this position is based on experience and is anticipated to be between $120,000 - $140,000 per year.

    Though we do need to meet some minimum requirements for the position such as a High School Diploma, a Bachelor's Degree, and an active licensure in the state of California as RN, LMFT or LCSW, as well as a preferred minimum of 2 years of similar experience, with at least 1 year in a behavioral or psychiatric setting, we're really looking for people who bring their HEART to work.

     

    If you have previous experience in a mental healthcare hospital environment where your attention was focused on human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, or other mental healthcare situations, or specific experience as a Director of Intake, then your application to this position will be moved to the shortlist of candidates.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

    Through prevention, intervention, treatment, and education, we can and we will make a difference not just here in Bakersfield, but throughout our extended communities.

    Ideally, you will possess:

    + Exceptional Leadership skills.

    + Experience in inpatient acute psychiatric hospitals.

    + A clear understanding of our patient population, time management, and crisis intervention common to the acutely psychotic as well as to non-violent crisis intervention practice.

    + Knowledge of acute psychological disorders; advanced principles of abnormal psychology as specifically applied to adults and adolescents.

    + Skills in conducting patient assessments, suicide risk assessments, and identifying patient needs.

    + Experience navigating complex work schedules in a 24/7 environment of care

    + Experience leading a team of direct reports of 10 or more employees.

     

    You should have a current CPR certification when you apply or obtain certification prior to your start date.

     

    If you don't have a current CPR certification, just let us know and we'll make sure you get it before you start -- and even cover the cost for you.

     

    We would prefer someone with a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing, or a relative field from an accredited college or university.

     

    Experience in leadership-level positions in mental health clinics or experience in a lead position providing direct clinical or assessment oversight would be beneficial. Knowledge of an acute psychiatric hospitalization environment preferred. Must have experience in interviewing support and professional staff and providing director-level oversight of strategic planning, organization growth, budget management, and clinical application of services. Strong clinical and interpersonal skills, ability to lead and direct work of others, excellent written and verbal communication skills.

     

    Additionally, you'll complete a "Handle-With-Care" Physical Restraint Technique and Verbal De-escalation Training during your orientation so that you know how and when to engage when such an event occurs.
