The lntercultural Collective (IC) seeks a student-centered professional to serve as Coordinator of First-Generation Programs. Using student development and customer service skills, this position will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating hands-on, community-building and educational programming and events for first-gen students and providing administrative and operational support for First-Gen programs including the Kessler Scholars Program.
The coordinator is an integral member of the IC, which is charged with creating a holistic, student-centered welcoming and accepting environment that cultivates community and belonging, provides resources for students’ personal and academic success, and connects students to opportunities for campus engagement.
The position reports to the Kessler Scholars Program director. The Kessler Scholars Program offers evidence-based best practices for student success and academic, professional, and personal support to help first-generation students navigate Syracuse University with a sense of belonging and purpose across all years of their undergraduate experience.
The coordinator will also work closely with the other offices in the IC: Belonging and Student Success, Disability Cultural Center, LGBTQ+ Resource Center, and Center for International Services. This is an in-person, student-facing job.
