Description
This role will be responsible for the development, integration, and execution of a global and holistic, company⁃wide communications and engagement strategy around all ELC sustainability, environmental and social impact initiatives. Working in close partnership with the ESG communications leads and working closely with leadership teams across the company, this role will lead communications and engagement efforts that demonstrate ELC's progress on sustainability and strengthen ELC's reputation with consumers, investors, shareholders, the media, and the public at large.
Over time, this leader will be expected to help position ELC as a leading prestige global company dedicated to excellence in ESG. This position must be passionate about making a positive difference in society through the integration of sustainability and social impact policies and programs in core ELC business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive strategic communications to highlight ESG work, with strong focus on environment:
+ Develop and lead compelling communications strategies that reflect and help advance ELC's commitments on sustainability, social and environmental impact, ensuring external positioning aligns with the goals of the brand and business strategy
+ Oversee the team leading "best⁃in⁃class" execution of sustainability, social and environmental impact communications plans across brands, regions and functions
+ Lead an earned media and stakeholder engagement strategy for high⁃level partnerships, convenings and sponsorships.
+ Oversee message development and message deployment across company to ensure consistent and compelling messages are deployed across brands, regions, and channels
+ Ensure ELC is on the cutting edge of ESG communications tactics
+ Contribute to business innovation related to environmental and social impact goals and ensuring progress made translates into an effective external strategy
+ Be prepared to regularly brief senior leaders on ESG communications to ensure they are well⁃positioned for high profile media engagements
+ Oversee a team strategy prioritizing efforts to increase third party validation for ELC's sustainability efforts
+ Be an ELC Champion to deliver key brand initiatives around the "E⁃pillar"
+ Drive stakeholder relationships across media, NGOs, Multilaterals, and Conference events to support strategy
Strengthen investor relations:
+ Work with Global Citizenship and Sustainability, Investor Relations, HR, Integrated Corporate Communciations, Global Public Affairs, Regulatory, Legal and other key teams to leverage "E⁃pillar" data in order to incorporate it into storytelling across the company and to investors specifically
+ Drive a communications strategy aimed at increasing awareness of ELC's ESG efforts particularly for investors and engaged consumers
+ Partering with key functions such as Global Citizenship and Sustainability in aim to increase overall current ESG scores by developing a deep understanding of "E⁃pillar" scoring trends and how communications initiatives may apply
Team management:
+ Act as strategic counsel to and foster constructive relationships with individuals at all levels including senior level executives, peers, and employees
+ Support team members' professional development and opportunities
+ Oversee a staff of at 3⁃4 employees to support in the execution of the defined strategy for Sustainability & Innovation communications efforts
Qualifications
+ 15+ years of related work experience with 10+ years in ESG, CSR, Investor Relations, Corporate Communications, and/or Strategy
+ Demonstrated experience crafting ESG communications strategies, ideally with specific experience working on environmental and sustainability issues
+ Strong background leading 360 communication programming for executive audiences
+ Excellent verbal and written communication experience, including strong presentation skills for executive level audiences
+ Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, creative skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment and decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
+ Demonstrated track record of building and managing successful teams
+ Strong credibility and demonstrated ability to influence change, lead, and network with key internal and external stakeholders
+ Executive presence
+ Bachelor's Degree required, Advanced degree/certification preferred
