Job Summary:
As an **Account Manager Fellow** at Caterpillar Defense, you will be trained to lead and coordinate all sales and solution programs related to electric power generation for defense applications. In this role, you will drive the development, prioritization, and communication of Caterpillar Defense’s growth strategy across the U.S. military, federal government, allied governments, and their prime contractors.
You will be responsible for creating and executing a strategic plan that bridges the gap between traditional, organic growth with existing accounts—as outlined in the annual business plan—and a structured approach to expanding sales. This includes targeting new opportunities within the U.S. Department of Defense, other government agencies, and allied defense sectors through major support campaigns and programs of record.
The SkillBridge Fellowship is typically 12 weeks in length, per the Hiring our Heroes schedule, and is paid per the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge program policy.
What You Will Do:
+ Understand Caterpillar policies, procedures, and organizations, and leverage this knowledge to provide the best products and services from across the Caterpillar enterprise.
+ Engage the military services, government agency and allied energy stakeholders to enable them to meet energy-related goals, identify affordable solutions, and facilitate public-private partnerships, Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) and utilities with Caterpillar solutions to grow Caterpillar’s sales and sustainment market share.
+ Ensure Caterpillar Defense projects are integrated with other enterprise business activities and projects, particularly rental and power generation product groups and the Cat dealer network.
+ Oversee performance and support capture, research, market allegiance and reporting activities for this business segment.
Required Qualifications:
+ Must be approved for a military SkillBridge and aligned with the Hiring our Heroes fellowship program.
+ Must be able to be in-office in Irving, TX for the duration of the fellowship.

+ Aligns Caterpillar products and services with government customer objectives to deliver the most effective solutions.
+ Develops team deliverables to ensure full compliance with customer requirements.
+ Promotes and exemplifies a strong customer focus as a core organizational strategy.
**Effective Communications - Extensive:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
+ Applies strong communication and leadership skills to coordinate effectively with business development and account management teams in preparation for upcoming capture opportunities.
+ Uses prior defense program and industry knowledge to shape Caterpillar Defense internal processes, while retaining its reputation for commercial excellence.
+ Responsible for the translation of business unit goals and objectives into an actionable roadmap.
**Relationship Management – Extensive:** Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
+ Serve as the face of Caterpillar Defense for government, defense and allied leadership as well as their power generation-related trade organizations, consortiums, and governing bodies.
+ Communicates to clients regarding expectations of all parties.
+ Participates in negotiating the terms of the business relationship.
+ Conducts periodic reviews of work effort, progress, issues, and successes.
+ Maintains productive, long-term relationships with clients or vendors.
+ Creates opportunities to educate support teams on client priorities.
+ Empowers others to establish collaborative, healthy relationships.
**Account Management – Working Level:** Knowledge of account management; ability to manage day-to-day activities, providing services and support to existing clients.
+ Participates in orchestrating and coordinating a team sale.
+ Uses proper resources for the day-to-day support of existing clients.
+ Analyzes the sales history and current activity for a specific account.
+ Coordinates with internal support functions to meet unique client needs.
+ Provides account management support to a specific customer or account.
**Value Selling – Extensive:** Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.
+ Manages and grows Caterpillar Defense’s sales pipeline by finding, assessing, and capturing electric power generation opportunities in the Defense and Federal space.
+ Coordinates with government and military logistics and engineering entities (DOE, DOE FEMP, OSD, CASCOM, USACE, NAVFAC, USAIMCOM, USAFIMSCOM, NATO, USAF CE…) to ensure Caterpillar consideration for developmental and strategic efforts.

+ This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
