EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Middle School Activities Coordinator is responsible for the leadership, development, and administration of all extracurricular and co-curricular programs and student activities within the middle school. This position supports the school’s mission to provide students with opportunities that foster engagement, leadership, teamwork, and positive character development. The coordinator works closely with staff, students, families, and community partners to ensure high-quality, inclusive programs that support student growth and school culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Coordinates and oversees all middle school extracurricular and co-curricular activities, including athletics, clubs, and other student-led initiatives.
+ Recommends new programs or improvements to existing ones based on student interest, staff availability, and school goals.
+ Recruits, supports, and collaborates with coaches, sponsors, and advisors to ensure high-quality programming and supervision of student activities.
+ Schedules practices, games, performances, and activity events in coordination with building administration and district-wide calendars.
+ Manages and monitors activity budgets and fundraisers in collaboration with the district finance office, ensuring compliance with accounting and audit procedures.
+ Ensures proper use, maintenance, and inventory of facilities and activity equipment. Coordinates facility use with external groups, if applicable.
+ Promotes student participation and inclusivity in all activity programs and helps ensure compliance with district and school policies.
+ Collaborates with staff to support student eligibility, behavior expectations, and engagement across activities.
+ Communicates regularly with students, parents/guardians, and community partners to promote events and address questions or concerns.
+ Supports a positive and safe environment during activities and events, including supervision outside regular school hours.
+ Maintains accurate records related to student participation, injuries, event outcomes, and other relevant activity data.
+ Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education, athletic administration, or related field preferred.
+ Previous experience working with middle or secondary school students in an educational or extracurricular setting required.
+ Experience coordinating student programs or supervising staff is preferred.

+ Effectively schedules events and activities, avoiding conflicts and maximizing participation.
+ Maintains timelines, calendars, and documentation needed for program oversight.
Technology Proficiency:
+ Utilizes software systems for communication, scheduling, recordkeeping, and promotion.
+ Comfortable presenting information and managing online tools used by students, staff, and families.
Communication Skills:
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Capable of addressing student, staff, and parent concerns with professionalism and clarity.
+ Comfortable presenting to small and large groups as needed.
Decision-Making:
+ Capable of making timely, student-focused decisions during high-pressure situations.
+ Prioritizes completing demands effectively and appropriately.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires physical movement during school events and occasional lifting of items up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend, twist, and assist with setup and takedown of event materials. The work environment may be noisy, indoors or outdoors, and occasionally involve evening or weekend hours.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Performs additional duties as assigned by the building principal or district leadership to support school and district goals.
