Job Summary and Qualifications

The Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians and employees at the hospital. Direct responsibilities include providing basic security services, investigations, personal protection, traffic control assignments, and emergency services. Represents Security Services to patients, visitors, physicians, and employees.

1. All employees will be held accountable for attending training regarding the Code of Conduct program at least annually.

2. Adheres to hospital and departmental personnel policies and procedures.

3. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Conducts non-routine inspections of the physical environment and surrounding property to identify areas for security improvement.

4. Ethics and Compliance Expectations 1. All employees will be held accountable for behaviors displayed relative to the values articulated in the Mission and Values Statement. “Will act with absolute honest, integrity and fairness in the way we conduct our business and the way we live our lives.”

5. Reports and investigates all security incidents involving patients, visitors, personnel, or property, in a timely manner.

6. Responds to applicable hospital emergency codes and alarms.

7. Works to build a sense of common purpose and teamwork. Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and staff in a clear, concise, and positive manner.

What qualifications you will need:

License / Certifications / Requirements:

+ Must be able to register as a non-commissioned Security Officer by the Texas Board of Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies. Crisis Prevention Intervention certification is required. Prefer International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety certification. Employee has 6 months from the date of hire to obtain license and Crisis Prevention Intervention certification.

+ High School Graduate or GED is required. Some college or security experience is preferred.

+ Must have valid Texas Driver's license or obtain Texas License within 30 days.
