Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Patrols facilities and property make observations to detect unauthorized persons, activities, unsafe conditions, and ensure life safety standards are maintained.
+ Maintains appropriate communication with Supervisors, fellow Officers, Security Operations Center and Law Enforcement to report crimes, incidents, and safety related irregularities.
+ Intervene in disputes between individuals by using verbal de-escalation techniques and skills to diffuse potentially violent patient, employee, or visitor situations.
+ Investigates and document incidents through both written and electronic format as required: Safety hazards, incidents and criminal activities to Public Safety Leadership,
+ Controls access to restricted organizational properties and verifies the admittance of authorized individuals.
+ Escorts people/property to desired destination when safety of property or individuals is a concern.
+ Assists with parking and security during special events and provides visitors with directions and security information.
+ Performs security services and dispatcher duties when assigned.
+ Participates in activities not directly related to Security operations as approved by Security Management.
+ These may include transport and release of bodies from the morgue; patient escort; elevator recall checks; monthly fire extinguisher, panic alarm, and intercom checks; and special event setups.
+ Interviews and investigates individuals involved in suspicious or illegal activities.
+ Detains unauthorized individuals in compliance with state and federal law Officers are required to use force when appropriate to protect patients, staff and visitors at an Emory Healthcare facility.
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** :
+ Two (2) consecutive years of armed security, military, or law enforcement experience within the last 7 years.
Must have:
+ Possess(ed) a POST certification;
OR
+ Have been registered through a military (DD214 or current Military ID);
+ All active, reserve, retired or honorable discharged military personnel will meet the licensing/certification requirement .
OR
+ Federal, state, or local licensing firearms certification (Department of Homeland Security, NASA, NRA, GBI, or Secretary of State)
+ Must successfully complete the Basic Security Officer and Firearms course mandated by the Secretary of State within 3 months post-hire.
+ Must be able to successfully complete training to carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser (CED) and/or a baton within 3 months post-hire
+ Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's license and have a clean driving record with no recent history of major traffic violations.
+ Must be able to operate a company vehicle when required
+ Must pass a psychological exam.
+ Must obtain IAHSS Basic certification within 12 months.
+ Obtain a BLS Certification within 12 months.
+ Complete FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 & 800 within six (6) months.
