Summary The Middle District of Georgia encompasses 70 of Georgia's 159 counties and covers 25,471 square miles with a population of approximately 2,045,000. The district is home to Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Fort Benning in Columbus, and the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany and has courthouses in Macon, Athens, Albany, Columbus, and Valdosta. Responsibilities The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Georgia is seeking applications from experienced attorneys who have a strong criminal prosecution background to fill one or more Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) vacancies in the Criminal Division. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement. All initial attorney positions to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing), and have at least one (1) year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should possess superior communication and courtroom skills, exhibit exceptional research and writing ability, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and professional skills. Applicants must also exhibit the ability to work with other attorneys, support staff and client agencies in a professional manner while being able to function in a highly demanding work environment. You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement in order to receive consideration for this position. Education Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree. Additional Information Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. Salary is $78,190.00 to $195,200.00 which includes 23.79% locality pay.
