Job Title: SCADA Engineer - IgnitionJob Description
We are seeking a skilled SCADA Engineer to commission and implement our Power Plant Controller (PPC) product at new utility-scale solar and battery storage facilities. Our company is dedicated to engineering, building, and integrating renewable power infrastructure. As a SCADA Engineer, you will play a vital role in automating and integrating substations and various systems within and between these plants using Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform.
Responsibilities
+ Commission and implement new project sites for our Power Plant Controller (PPC) product.
+ Source and track design and site attributes for upcoming project implementations, including engineering drawings and datasets from the solar field general contractor and system vendors.
+ Remotely configure servers and environments at project sites, including initial setup tasks and additional tasks to set up third-party personnel or systems.
+ Create and enhance deployment templates for each site.
+ Check and ensure quality for new site deployments, including device connections, real-time and historical data checks, and user interface testing.
+ Collaborate with team members including SCADA engineers, project engineers, drafters, and site technicians to design and implement SCADA and communication systems for projects.
Essential Skills
+ 3-10 years of recent experience in SCADA engineering in a power or related field, with a focus on Ignition development and platform.
+ A four-year degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or a related field.
+ Moderate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and managing large datasets.
+ Strong analytical skills and a drive for accuracy.
+ Background or interest in learning how to interpret electrical and physical engineering drawings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Familiarity with Python, Ignition, SQL, web front end, GeoJSON/GIS, power systems, electronics, and hardware virtualization.
+ Experience with PLC programming and configuring RTUs.
+ Proficiency with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) relays.
+ Hands-on experience with Real-Time Automation Controllers (RTACs).
+ Knowledge of communication protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, and IEC.
+ Expertise in SCADA systems design, implementation, and maintenance.
+ Knowledge of network configuration and cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
+ Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
+ Comfortable with the use of hardware, hand tools, and small power tools for the installation and mounting of wiring, devices, and cabling.
+ Field engineering experience is a plus.
Work Environment
This position reports to a substation consulting firm located in Minnesota. The role offers flexibility with the option to work remotely, provided candidates are ready to start without extensive training. The company is open to candidates from Minnesota, those willing to relocate, and remote applicants who are drop-in ready.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $65.00/hr.
