Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Real Estate to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The position is in the Real Estate Division with the Omaha District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Serving as appraiser and reviewing appraiser of real estate with authority to reject, as well as approve appraisals affecting commercial, industrial, residential, agricultural, or unimproved property value. Responsibilities Make final technical review of real estate appraisals prepared by journeyman staff appraisers and contract fee appraisers. Review and approve/disapprove fee and easement appraisals for acquisition and disposal for a wide variety of unimproved and improved real property for projects for which the appraised value does not exceed the delegated authority. Make the more complex type of appraisals involving properties which have special significance or unusual appraisal problems where controversial elements of value are involved. Prepare gross appraisal reports for planning studies and reports. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience appraising a variety of real estate, including commercial, industrial, agricultural and rural properties; and, experience in reviewing and approving real estate appraisals to ensure well supported conclusions and provide written review reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Additional incentives MAY be authorized.
