Job Title: Warehouse Worker

Job Description

As a Warehouse Worker, you will spend 50% of your day operating sit-down forklifts to move goods efficiently and safely around the warehouse. The remaining 50% will involve performing various warehouse duties, ensuring the smooth operation of daily tasks.

Responsibilities

+ Operate sit-down forklifts to transport materials within the warehouse.

+ Unload and load trucks both manually and using forklifts, handling items with care to prevent damage.

+ Prepare freight for shipment by securely packaging items and ensuring proper labeling.

+ Use shrink-wrap to secure pallets, ensuring stability during transit.

+ Split cases from pallets, sorting and storing items in designated locations.

+ Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, ensuring safety and order.

+ Repackage orders as needed to meet customer specifications and ensure secure transport.

+ Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate PPE and reporting safety concerns.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in forklift operation, specifically sit-down forklifts.

+ General labor and material handling experience.

+ Ability to lift 50+ pounds by hand.

+ 3-5 years of warehouse and forklift experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Administrative skills.

+ Experience in loading, unloading, picking, inventory, shipping, and receiving.

+ Strong customer service skills.

Work Environment

Work in a small, family-owned business environment with a team of 3-5 people in the warehouse. The facility is located near Norfolk International Airport and offers TSA-compliant, secure warehousing and office facilities. Employees must follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. The job requires heavy lifting and the ability to operate sit-down forklifts effectively.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Henrico, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
