Responsibilities:
Ensures that the organization's websites provide up-to-date and comprehensive product/service information that is easily available to existing and potential customers. Establishes and maintains an information architecture that is well organized, user-friendly, and presents a consistent corporate look and feel. Coordinates the development, integration, format design and release of content from writers and designers. Analyzes the use of website content and design. Makes recommendations to improve information content architecture and design. Employs focus groups, surveys, web statistics, email, etc., to elicit feedback and improve website content and organization. May mentor and oversee the work of lower level staff.
Under the direction of the Director, Web Services or their designee, the Web Specialist II is responsible for gathering requirements, architecting, developing, testing, optimizing, and managing web content and structure for URMC's websites and digital properties. Working collaboratively with faculty and staff, ensures the organization's websites provide up-to-date and comprehensive information. Establishes and maintains websites that are well-organized and user friendly. The Web Specialist II provides strategic insight and support in answering client business needs and challenges. Coordinates the development, integration, format design and release of content from other URMC Communications team members as well as Medical Center colleagues and stakeholders. Assists in the development and maintenance of web properties that are innovative, drive measurable engagement, and are built from a user-centered perspective.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Builds and manages web pages and digital platforms
+ Works with clients to identify business goals and recommends digital solutions that support those goals. Through conversation and research, identifies and translates client requirements into projects. Seeks feedback from clients to improve upon designs.
+ Utilizes solid command of user experience standards, accessibility guidelines, industry recommendations, data, content principles and best practices to create and edit website content within Content Management Systems. Analyzes website content and design data to make recommendations to clients.
+ Monitors Web Services ticketing system and responds to help tickets. Conducts research as needed. Resolves any issues or escalates to ISD as needed and reports status to senior management.
+ Manages administration of digital platforms including user access and maintenance.
+ Troubleshoots web pages for broken links, browser incompatibilities, outdated content and code, and usability and accessibility issues. Makes corrections as needed.
+ Trains and mentors new users on digital platforms.
+ Maintains updated knowledge of Internet technologies by attending seminars, classes, and conferences; visiting relevant Internet sites; reviewing current literature and evaluating trends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree required
+ 3 years of relevant experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
+ Experience using project management tools for medium to large scale projects preferred.
+ 3 years of experience in content management, data management, or customer support preferred.
+ Detailed working knowledge and experience with Information Architecture and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics) preferred.
+ Experience with semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript and/or front-end frameworks such as Bootstrap preferred.
+ Experience with modern web layouts and web design programs preferred.
+ Experience with cross-browser compatibility preferred.
+ Experience in responsive web design preferred.
+ Experience updating content via database frontend preferred.
+ Familiarity with email marketing client services (e.g., MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, etc.) preferred.
+ Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills required.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with team members, faculty, staff, project leaders, and students required.
+ Service-oriented attitude, supporting team and helping clients required.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills; capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced and cross-functional environment required.
+ Ability to carry out detailed tasks and projects with minimal direction or supervision required.
+ A thorough knowledge of content strategy, web page layout and information architecture preferred.
+ Knowledge of usability and accessibility on the web preferred.
