Job Summary
Provides comprehensive, short-term crisis outreach services to children and families in King County with children experiencing a mental health or behavioral emergency. Stabilizes the initial crisis, provides intensive support and links the family to ongoing formal and informal support systems. This position ensures children and families in King County are supported through and out of crisis situations safely and with minimal disruption to their lives. Children and families leave the program stabilized with new skills, awareness of their strengths, and stronger systems of support.
This position is at the Social Impact Center Y, the social services branch of YMCA of Greater Seattle (YGS). The mission of the Social Impact Center Y is to accelerate young people’s ability to build safe, successful, and happy lives. Every year, we serve 5,000 children, youth, young adults, and families across King County with programs that aim to strengthen young people’s ability to develop to their fullest potential through four strategies: reducing risk factors; navigating systems towards successful life transition; ensuring stability, safety and wellness in times of crisis; and building competencies and social capital. The Social Impact Center Y’s programs include housing, behavioral health, foster care licensing, violence prevention, education, and employment. Many of the young people we serve have had involvement in the foster care, criminal justice system, and/or homelessness systems.

Hiring Range: $28.00-$31.00 hourly
Responsibilities
+ Available during scheduled shifts to be contacted and respond to after-hours Crisis Clinic referrals and provide and outreach within maximum of 2 hours.
+ Provides immediate, short term, acute crisis intervention services to families in King County to prevent out of home care and psychiatric hospitalization for children and youth.
+ Provides services in the homes and other community locations to meet the needs of the, families served. Meets with each family and child with appropriate urgency, intensity and frequency for the crisis situation.
+ Provides short-term individual and family stabilization services and resource linkage, including risk assessments and safety planning, as well as providing parenting skills training, behavior management, de-escalation training and brief counseling when responding to after-hours crisis for enrolled clients.
+ Develops and implements Child and Family Safety Plans and makes referrals to community resources that are sensitive to the family’s cultural, social and mental health needs.
+ Utilizes the CALOCUS Assessment, case management software and approved documentation format to indicate client and family strengths, problem areas, recovery goals, objectives, interventions , and progress.
+ Documents interventions, exploration of least restrictive options, safety planning and collaboration with hospital social workers and family members.
+ Uses de-escalation and problem solving with clients and families over the phone and in-person coaching the parents in the moment of crisis.
+ Maintains a working knowledge of current trends and developments in the mental health field through continuing education and reading relevant materials.
+ Reports all critical incidents and adheres to YMCA program policies and procedures

Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in social work, counseling or related field. Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.
+ One or more year’s post-graduate experience in providing short-term mental health services to youth and families from a broad range of cultures and social needs.
+ Licensed or registered with an Associate License by Washington State Department of Health.
+ Strong knowledge of risk assessments, crisis intervention and de-escalation, wraparound service delivery, parent skills training, safety planning, and case management.
+ Training and experience in individual, family, and group treatment modalities. Ability to work in a team management approach.
+ Computer proficiency, basic office software and case management/client tracking software. Strong organizational skills with an attention to details, timelines and follow-through. Ability to meet with clients at home and in the community, and to transport clients in a safe and effective manner. (Proof of adequate vehicle insurance is required.)
+ Ability to work overnight, evenings, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical activity, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful
Authorized Driver Requirement
This is a driving-preferred role that could potentially involve transporting clients as an “authorized driver” for the Y. To become an authorized driver, you must be 21+, have had a driver's license for at least 3 years and with a driving record that meets Y standards (no more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years, no major incidents such as reckless driving, DUI/DWI, no tickets 20+ miles above the speed limit etc.). As driving roles are safety sensitive, you will also need pass a drug screen that will test for impairing substances including marijuana. (*Due to state-specific reporting requirements in our fleet management system, we are not currently able to enroll California Driver's License holders as Authorized Drivers).
