Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our healthcare organization. This role is instrumental in managing the financial health and compliance of our organization, ensuring we can provide critical healthcare services to the communities we serve.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing accounting processes, creating accurate financial reports, managing budgets, monitoring grants, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit financial regulations specific to the healthcare sector.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight & Reporting:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, with a focus on healthcare-specific regulations
Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and IRS regulations for tax-exempt organizations.
Provide budget forecasts, variance analyses, and financial insights to assist healthcare leadership in strategic decision-making.
Healthcare Compliance & Cost Reporting:
Manage cost-reporting methodologies related to healthcare programs, including Medicaid and Medicare funding compliance, where applicable.
Oversee the preparation of financial reports for grantors, donors, and healthcare agencies.
Grant & Fund Management:
Supervise restricted and unrestricted fund accounting to ensure the responsible allocation and usage of funds in compliance with donor restrictions
Manage healthcare-relevant grants, ensuring proper documentation, reporting, and adherence to funding requirements.
Audit & Tax Compliance:
Serve as the primary lead for audits, ensuring that healthcare-specific financial processes meet regulatory standards.
Prepare and submit Form 990 and other required compliance filings in a timely and accurate manner.
Internal Controls & Policies:
Maintain and enhance financial policies and internal controls to mitigate risk and optimize healthcare funding efficiency.
Improve financial systems and processes to support strategic growth and compliance in the healthcare field.
Team Collaboration:
Mentor junior accounting and finance staff, promoting accountability and professional development.
Coordinate with program managers, healthcare administrators, and other internal departments to ensure proper financial planning and expense verification.
Systems & Tools:
Maintain accuracy in ERP and financial systems (e.g., Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar healthcare-software platforms).
Use advanced Excel functions and financial modeling tools to ensure precise reporting on healthcare-specific metrics
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
CPA certification (preferred but not required).
Experience:
5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with specific experience in nonprofit healthcare accounting or fund management preferred.
Expertise in healthcare financial analytics, particularly related to cost management and reporting.
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with healthcare-compliant accounting platforms and systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Sage Intacct, or CareCloud).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using financial modeling tools.
Familiarity with healthcare-specific compliance standards and reporting requirements, such as HIPAA, UDS, or government healthcare funding guidelines.
Key Competencies:
In-depth understanding of both nonprofit and healthcare GAAP accounting principles.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate financial concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
+ Background in healthcare-related fields such as behavioral health, community health centers, or public health organizations.
+ Experience integrating healthcare billing with financial reporting systems.
+ Knowledge of succession and pipeline planning for financially sustainable healthcare operations
