    Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS), located in Malden, Massachusetts, was established in 1998 and serves more than 1,700 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

    Job Summary: K-6th Grade Classroom Teacher

    The K-6th Grade Classroom teacher provides essential support within the academic department by assisting with classroom coverage, delivering instruction, and supporting school-wide initiatives. This role includes a combination of instructional responsibilities, administrative tasks, and student support functions designed to maintain consistency and excellence across the school environment.

     

    Classroom teachers are responsible for maintaining classroom structure and schedules as assigned, while promoting a positive learning environment using the 4:1 ratio of positive feedback. They deliver instruction following Direct Instruction and Core Knowledge methodologies, and are expected to document daily lesson activities and student progress, submitting weekly reports to the Professional Development Coordinator (PDC). In addition, they report successes and challenges related to Core Knowledge lessons on a weekly basis. Plus One Teachers actively participate in all required professional development sessions and collaborate regularly with colleagues through weekly grade-level team meetings, bi-weekly Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings, and bi-monthly staff meetings. When necessary, they attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and are responsible for completing special education documentation and implementing required IEP or 504 accommodations in the classroom.

     

    They prepare and submit four progress reports and four report cards each academic year for their homeroom and specialty class students, as well as provide grades for students in academic groups. They are also expected to conduct four parent-teacher conferences annually, two in the fall and two in the spring. Classroom Teachers contribute to the school community by participating in events such as Back to School Night, open houses, holiday performances, and the High School Senior Luncheon. Additional responsibilities include fulfilling assigned supervision duties such as morning arrival, lunch/recess coverage, and dismissal. Throughout their role, Plus One Teachers are expected to uphold and enforce all school policies and procedures and perform any additional duties assigned by the Lead Teacher or outlined in the teaching schedule.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree required

    + Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills

    + Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data to make informed decisions

    + Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

    + Understanding of educational laws, IEP/504 processes, and school policies

    + Effective classroom management and instructional skills

    + Strong organizational and time management skills

    + Successful completion of all applicable MTELs within one year of employment

    + This is a full-time, annual position subject to yearly performance evaluation
