THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION

General Summary

Functioning as a member of the care delivery team, the Secretary IV works under the direction of the Manager and/or the Clinical Care Facilitator. She/he transcribes physician orders and enters them into the computer; plans and organizes patient care records; coordinates communication of pertinent information to health team members and other departments; performs clerical duties according to specific needs; orders unit supplies; and promotes a positive climate for good interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills, Etc.

1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

2 Must be able to read, write, and perform simple mathematical computations.

3. Successful completion of a Medical Terminology Course is required.

4. Must possess the ability to meet public graciously.

5. General computer skills and ability to type 35 wpm required.

6. Demonstrate ability to report facts with accuracy, follow instructions, and complete assignments independently.

CPR certification required or must obtain within 6 months of hire.

Working Conditions

Moderate level (20% or more of time) of physical exertion required. Occasional exposure (6 to 20%) to adverse conditions. Possible fatigue and eye strain from continuously using eyesight while reading and recording.
