    Job Title: Pathology Assistant

    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated Pathology Assistant to join our team. This role involves performing complete dissection, gross description, selection, and submission of tissue for microscopic examination and special studies following departmental guidelines. The position requires adherence to laboratory quality control policies, procedures, and a professional environment.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform complete dissection, gross description, selection, and submission of tissue for microscopic examination and special studies following departmental guidelines.

    + Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.

    + Adhere to quality control policies and procedures within the laboratory.

    + Assist other areas and rotations within the department with specified assignments timely after completing assigned tasks.

    + Maintain a professional environment and uphold high ethical standards and integrity.

    + Identify and address problems that may affect test performance or reporting of test results.

    + Demonstrate knowledge of hazardous waste management and personal protection measures, including blood borne pathogens.

    + Ensure proficiency in cutting frozen sections.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related science.

    + Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology is highly preferred.

    + Completion of a NAACLS accredited PA program with no experience required.

    + Proficiency in computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems.

    + Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

    + High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

    + Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance processes.

    + Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.

    + Must pass a standardized color vision screen.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment preferred.

    + Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

    + ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) and BS required or AMT (American Medical Technologists) certification required.

    Work Environment

    The position operates in a laboratory setting with standard hours from Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The role may require overtime or shifts beyond these hours depending on business needs.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $39.00/hr.
