    Academic Services Officer I - Success Coach

     

    Wayne State University is searching for an experiencedAcademic Services Officer I - Success Coachat its Detroit campus location.

    Essential functions (job duties):

    This is a 100% Grant funded position.

     

    Academic Services Officer I - Success Coach reports to the Director of Student Disability Services. This is a

    non-ESS position that supports the student success initiatives that enhance the retention mission of the

    TRIO SSS-D Grant. This grant is funded through August 2027.

    The primary duties of the position are:

    • Assist in the recruitment and support of TRIO SSS-D applicants and participants from determination of eligibility to the development and execution of success plans.

    • Work closely with TRIO SSS-D team to develop and facilitate student success initiatives and programming that meets grant goals in partnership with campus partners to provide financial literacy support, career guidance, academic support, etc.

    • Work as a member of the Student Disability Services team and act as a liaison to other units as

     

    appropriate.

     

    • Continuously develop knowledge of best practices and tools in the areas of TRIO student

     

    support services and disability support services.

     

    • Assist with data collection and reporting required for the TRIO SSS-D annual progress report.

    • Provide clerical support for TRIO SSS-D that streamlines recruitment and maintains organizational needs.

    • Must be available to work evening and weekend hours as needed and requested.

    • Provide own transportation to work and work-related events.

    • Other duties as defined by the TRIO SSS-D Grant director.

    Qualifications:

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Education or related fields required; current participation in an academic program leading to a master’s degree preferred.

     

    Ability to work with and maintain confidential documents.

     

    Ability to assimilate extensive knowledge of academic programs, policies and requirements.

     

    Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and efficiently prioritize workload.

     

    Critical thinking skills and the ability to propose and implement effective solutions to issues and/or problems.

     

    Good oral and written communication skills.

     

    Computer literacy required.
