    About the role

     

    The Maintenance and Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of maintenance and engineering activities within the food factory. This includes managing the maintenance team, ensuring equipment reliability, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and supporting engineering projects to optimize production efficiency and safety.

    Key responsibilities

    1. Maintenance Management:

    + Lead and manage the maintenance team to ensure effective and efficient maintenance operations.

    + Develop and implement maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.

    + Plan and schedule preventive maintenance activities to maintain equipment in optimal condition.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve complex maintenance issues to minimize production interruptions.

    + Plans and provides for adequate supply and ensures control over spare parts and maintenance supplies (Inventory management).

    2. Engineering Support:

    + Provide engineering expertise and technical support to production processes and equipment.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement engineering solutions that improve production efficiency, quality, and safety.

    + Manage engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.

    3. Safety and Compliance:

    + Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

    + Promote a culture of safety among maintenance and engineering staff through training, awareness, and adherence to safety protocols.

    + Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

    4. Budget and Resource Management:

    + Develop and manage the maintenance and engineering department budget.

    + Optimize resource allocation and utilization to achieve cost-effective maintenance operations.

    + Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in maintenance and engineering activities.

    5. Continuous Improvement:

    + Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, reduce waste, and improve overall plant performance.

    + Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices in maintenance and engineering processes.

     

    Qualifications and skills

     

    Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A professional certification (e.g., CMRP) is a plus.

     

    Proven experience (7+ years) in maintenance and engineering management within the food manufacturing industry or a similar fast-paced production environment.

     

    Strong technical knowledge of food processing equipment, utilities, and facilities maintenance.

     

    Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and develop a team.

     

    Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels within the organization.

     

    Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to food manufacturing.

     

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

     

    Results-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.

     

    Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

     

    Proactive and adaptable to changing priorities and business needs.

     

    Compensation Data

     

    The typical hiring range for this role is $107,757 to $181,563 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
