As part of the teaching and learning innovation team (TALI), the Learning Program Manager plays an essential role in the implementation of our programming and supporting access for a diverse array of students.

    POSITION PURPOSE

    The UW Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy and Governance is seeking a Learning Program Manager to support implementation for a suite of learning programs. This position works with the Director of Academic Program Innovation, Assistant Dean of Students & Learning Innovation, faculty Program Directors, and the Associate Dean for Teaching & Learning (ADT&L) to implement an array of learning programs across various sectors and student populations in service of Evans School's mission of democratizing public policy. This position will support the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA), several Graduate Certificate Programs, an undergraduate major and minor, and other non-credit professional learning programs.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **Operations (30% FTE)

    + Serve as the principal point of contact for faculty for program operations and logistics.

    + Work in collaboration with the Student Affairs team to deliver a high-quality curricular and student experience for program participants.

    + Be available for evening and weekend in-person and online course sessions to problem solve and serve the needs of students, participants, faculty, and external partners.

    + Coordinate space and material needs, including catering, for credit and non-credit courses and programming. This programming may include evenings, weekends and/or travel to off-site courses.

    + Collaborate with Associate Dean Teaching & Learning and Faculty Directors on annual program and course scheduling and operations

    + Organize and archive course and program materials and documentation in an efficient manner, preserving historical information as appropriate and necessary.

    + Support non-credit program operations, including executing the scope of work and budget for each program, registering participants, and collaborating with program partners to ensure successful program delivery. **Curriculum and Program Support (35% FTE)**

    + In collaboration with Director of Academic Program Innovation and other Evans staff and faculty members, provide technical and administrative support for instructional components of online and in-person academic experiences.

    + Work collaboratively with the Director of Academic Program Innovation to support the creation of course materials and delivery of course content

    + Support Director of Academic Program Innovation to gather materials consistent with learning plan/syllabi; work with virtual tools (Mural, Canvas, Canva, ViewPoint, etc.) designed to support hybrid learning

    + In collaboration with Faculty Program Directors and the Evans School Event Manager, coordinate faculty curriculum planning meetings, as well as the planning and execution of key program events such as the EMPA Foundation Week program and the Graduate Certificate Capstone days (which may include evenings and weekends). **General Administration (30% FTE)**

    + With the support of the Director of Academic Program Innovation, Director of Student Affairs, and Assistant Dean of Students & Learning Innovation, and Program Coordinator, on-board, train, and coordinate hourly student assistants responsible for on-site course support (including evenings and weekends)

    + Develop and revise policies and procedures and related documents to support the continuous improvement of program operations

    + Collaborate with Evans staff, faculty, and external partners on short and long-term partnership and student outreach plans for the EMPA, Graduate Certificate programs, and various non-credit professional learning programs

    + Participate as part of cross-team workgroups with staff members from TALI, Student Affairs, EPIC, and Advancement to support the overall student experience at the Evans School

    + Create and manage third-party contracts with consultants, educational partners, or vendors to ensure fulfillment of obligations, addressing any challenges or new opportunities, and maintaining positive relationships with all external partners

    + Work with Director of Academic Program Innovation to establish and monitor budget expenditures to ensure costs are allocated appropriately and within budget (for catering, course materials, marketing expenses, and other program costs)

    + Share in general office support as needed, which may include support of walk-in or phone inquiries, or support of cross-team Evans School events **Other duties as assigned (5%)** , as needed by supervisor. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

    + Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or a related field.

    + Three years prior experience in managing an academic program or event coordination, or administrative work experience and project management. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration** **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

    + Graduate degree in public administration, education, business or a related field.

    + Knowledge of or experience working in academia

    + Familiarity with the needs of adult learners and principles of adult learning

    + Demonstrated organizational skills related to program implementation and continuous quality improvement

    + Well-developed oral and written communication skills; an awareness of cultural differences; demonstrated experience and ability to communicate effectively

    + Ability to effectively interact with a broad community of faculty, industry partners, and other staff and students.

    + Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience working with individuals from different cultural, ethnic, geographic, and experiential backgrounds

    + Attention to detail, ability to think strategically and creatively, gather appropriate input, and act decisively. **Working Environmental Condition** The position requires a unique blend of skills. The position requires an ability to work with non-traditional students, both as students and as customers. EMPA students could be executives, public officials or just starting in their organization and may not have been in academic or classroom settings for a number of years, so that requires a high degree of service so they are comfortable with our program(s). In addition, these courses often operate outside the regular 40-hour work week with a need for working during some weekends. The position also requires understanding of undergraduate programming needs and program development. This position requires flexibility to meet the demands during course and program sessions and marketing and recruitment responsibilities. **Application Process:** The application process may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
