Description
We are looking for a skilled Cost Accounting Manager to join our team in Louisville, Kentucky. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead cost accounting functions in a manufacturing or consumer products environment while collaborating closely with senior finance leadership. The ideal candidate will excel in overseeing cost control systems, inventory valuation, and process improvements to drive operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounting for inventory transactions, including purchases, cost of goods sold, and adjustments.
• Lead the monthly financial close process while ensuring a robust internal control environment.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure accurate inventory valuation and standard costing updates.
• Calculate and update annual labor and overhead rates for budgeting purposes.
This role will also be responsible for maintaining SOX controls and working with internal and external auditors.
• Prepare quarterly revenue recognition calculations and create related journal entries.
• Handle federal excise tax filings, electronic reporting, and claims for destroyed products.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare reports comparing actual costs to standard production costs.
• Coordinate physical inventory counts and ensure accurate reporting.
• Implement process improvements and automation to enhance cost accounting practices.
• Supervise and mentor a small team, promoting collaboration and efficiency.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7–15 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or consumer products.
• Strong expertise in cost and inventory accounting.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data with high attention to detail.
• Proven experience in streamlining and automating accounting processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
