Based in beautiful El Cajon, CA, this institution values excellence in teaching and operations. They are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead their accounting team and support their financial operations to further their impactful mission.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
+ Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
+ Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes while ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
+ Prepare consolidated financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to guide organizational financial decision-making.
+ Conduct variance analyses to identify discrepancies, recommend solutions, and provide actionable financial insights.
+ Ensure compliance with nonprofit and government reporting requirements, including reviewing funding allocations and grants utilization.
+ Support external audits by preparing schedules and documentation and acting as the primary liaison with auditors.
+ Collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to align financial operations with strategic goals.
+ Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2–3 years in a management or supervisory role; experience in the education sector is preferred
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA designation highly desirable.
+ Expertise in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite).
+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., modeling, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP).
+ Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
+ Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit/government regulations (e.g., educational funding requirements).
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership abilities; effective written and verbal communication skills; a collaborative and mission-driven mindset.
