Description

A globally recognized biotechnology leader, specializing in drug target validation and functional genomics, is expanding its Indianapolis team. We are currently seeking an Animal Lab Research Technician to support our growing operations. In this role, you will play a key part in the daily care and maintenance of the animal facility, contributing to essential research and development efforts.

Responsibilities:

+ Ensure the health of all animals are properly cared for. Fed, watered, and have clean bedding at all times

+ Perform all animal care tasks in strict accordance with animal welfare regulations

+ Coordinate the receipt, handling, and delivery of vivarium supplies

+ Wash, dry, and autoclave equipment and materials as needed

+ Accurately maintain relevant records, manually and electronically

+ Complete scheduled tasks to ensure cleanliness and sterility of designated areas

+ Keep the vivarium, storage, and office spaces organized and hygienic

+ Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment

+ Monitor and uphold OHS standards throughout the facility

+ Follow quarantine protocols for designated facility zones

+ Appropriately dispose of biohazard waste in compliance with safety guidelines

+ Assist with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) studies and accurately document findings

+ Conduct clinical observations and record body weights of rodents (rats and mice)

+ Perform other duties as assigned to support research and facility operations

Organizational Capability Duties:

+ Actively participate in team workshops and provide support across departments as needed

+ Promote and facilitate learning and understanding of the Organizational Capability Program (OCP)

+ Assist other team members in all duties by providing training, guidance and support.

+ Communicate effectively to ensure safe and efficient collaboration with colleagues

+ Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes throughout the organization

+ Assist in the management of equipment, materials, and supplies within the work area

+ Take accountability for setting work priorities, making informed decisions, assigning tasks, and monitoring work practices

+ Engage in research and development projects aimed at advancing organizational capabilities

Additional Skills & Qualifications

1) Bachelor's Degree in Life Science

2) 2+ months of vivarium experience

3) Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, LIMS, etc.)

4) Experience being responsible for animal husbandry and maintaining vivarium colonies

5) Ability to work independently and efficiently

6) Strong communication skills, as this individual will work with partners all across the world

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
