Manager, Tax - Planning (Cross-Border Business Initiatives)

As Manager, Tax - Planning (Cross-Border Business Initiatives) you will manage cross-border tax projects and ensure the accuracy and integrity of international, local-country tax returns. This role ensures accurate, timely compliance, and real-time transactional monitoring to maintain the company’s global tax positions.

About Global Tax Planning at Walmart

The Global Tax Team at Walmart is responsible for managing the company’s tax strategy, compliance, and risk across all jurisdictions where Walmart operates. Given Walmart’s global scale, this team plays a critical role in ensuring tax efficiency, legal compliance, and alignment with the company’s business strategies.

What you'll do...

+ Ensure the accuracy and integrity of tax returns, forms, and audits by assessing tax work papers, rectifying any deficiencies, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring proper reporting.

+ Manage and oversee local-countryincome tax returns, forms, and reporting for international operational operations.

+ Develop work plans for approved projects and manage their design and implementation in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including tax, legal, and in-country tax teams.

+ Manage the execution of international tax planning, while demonstrating a deep understanding of complex tax concepts, discussing moderately complex tax issues with business teams, and staying informed of current tax developments.

+ Implement real-time transaction monitoring processes to reduce risk.

+ Collaborate closely with external providers and internal stakeholders (Global Compliance, Accounting, Tech & Data, FP&A) to ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy.

+ Provide insights and forecasting to support global tax planning and reporting processes.

What** **you’ll** **bring** **:

+ 4-6 years of experience in international tax, compliance, and planning, preferably at a multinational corporation or Big 4 firm.

+ Strong understanding of international tax concepts and ability to apply knowledge to various situations.

+ Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in complex areas.

+ Experience managing and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

+ Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on fostering strong customer partnerships.

+ You have an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.

+ You have an MBA or Master’s in Taxation or Accountancy, a JD with a Tax LL.M, or CPA.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$155,000.00

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and 2 years’ experience in accounting, finance, income tax

compliance, or related area OR 4 years’ experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area.
