We are looking for experienced, motivated engineers to work with the IBM Quantum deployment and development team. Projects may include characterization of quantum systems, bringing-up and support of complex quantum systems, managing lab and infrastructure for IBM's quantum data center, bringup and testing of cryogenic systems. You will have the ability to work in a lab environment with a range of microwave electronics and test equipment. You will work on testing, monitoring and study of quantum devices, apparatus, and controls to be used in multi-qubit architectures with high fidelity. You will be working with the world's best quantum system experts in what will be the defining technology of this generation!
Your role and responsibilities
As a Quantum Cryogenics Technician, you will work independently or in collaboration with other engineers, scientists or technicians in support of the quantum development program through the assembly, installation, operation and maintenance of the complex cryogenic equipment that cools our quantum devices.
Required technical and professional expertise
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Mechanical assembly, including reading assembly drawings, Bills of Materials, and similar documentation
• Use of basic hand tools
• Experience with cryogenic or high vacuum equipment
Preferred technical and professional experience
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field
• Operation of dilution refrigerators
• Installation of devices, wiring and associated components in cryogenic environments
• Computer aided design of mechanical components and assemblies
• Reading and understanding Process and Instrumentation Diagrams
• On-Call operation and/or routine monitoring of equipment
• Assembly of electronic, microwave and/or computer equipment and racks
