Job Title: System Administrator – Space Data Integrator (SDI) – Level 3 Salary: $80k - $90k Location: William J Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace Clearance: Enhanced Public Trust (SF-85) Employment Type: Full-Time Summary: AS&T is seeking a skilled and proactive System Administrator to support the FAA’s Space Data Integrator (SDI) system. This role involves operating and maintaining a mission-critical software platform that ingests, processes, and visualizes telemetry and mission data from commercial space launch and reentry operators (LROs). Your work will directly impact the processing, displaying, and distribution of vehicle position data, contributing to improved situational awareness and efficient airspace management. Key Responsibilities:
• Administer and maintain SDI infrastructure across development, test, and production environments. Provide SDI operational user with mission support for space launch and reentry operations. • Manage virtual machines and environments (VMWare, ESXi, vCenter) • Monitor system health and application performance. • Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible, Bitbucket) in coordination with DevOps engineer. • Configure and manage system logging, alerting, and automated backup processes. • Troubleshoot hardware, OS, and application-level issues, escalating to developers or external teams as needed. • Maintain system and security documentation, access control policies, and support audit readiness. • Collaborate with FAA stakeholders, SDI developers, and operational support staff to ensure high availability and uptime during mission operations. • Participate in software deployments, patching, and disaster recovery planning. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field OR equivalent work experience. • 10+ years of system administration experience (Linux required; Windows a plus). • Experience managing virtual environments. • Familiarity with tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Git, Bitbucket, and SonarQube. • Strong understanding of networking concepts, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls. • Excellent communication and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience supporting FAA systems or working in a regulated federal IT environment. • Knowledge of commercial space operations or aerospace/aviation systems. • Familiarity with SDLC and Agile methodologies. • Security+ or similar certification. Work Schedule:
+ Flexible hours with core hours between 9am and 3pm
+ Will require non-standard hours as well (will include nights, weekends, holidays)
