    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    This position serves as the legal counsel to the Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) and is responsible for providing statutory/regulatory interpretations and guidance. The position will also engage in administrative rulemaking for the OMMU. Prepares written legal opinions involving federal and state statutory interpretation, administrative rules, and court decisions. Consults with and advises staff on a variety of complex legal issues. Reviews all policies and procedures applicable to assigned headquarters activities and programs for legal implications, including the policy’s relationship to federal and state law. Prepares legal analysis of legislation impacting the program and advises on implementation. Responsible for assisting with administrative and civil litigation matters pertaining to the assigned programs. Provides assigned program with guidance on public records issues and assists with review as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:Proficient computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar; understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents; communicating effectively with others in writing; listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate; knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures and government rules & regulations; knowing how to find information and identifying essential information; organizational skills.
