    THE POSITION

    Utilize your expertise in barbering to become a Corrections Barber Instructor! The State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Frackville is seeking a highly motived and creative person with leadership skills to help inmates learn a trade while they are incarcerated.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    As a Corrections Barber Instructor, you will be responsible for the supervision of licensed barbers at SCI Frackville. Your work will involve assigning work to inmate barbers, providing management training related to barbering activities, and ensuring that operating standards required for barber shop certification are maintained. In this position, you will provide classroom and on-the-job training and instruction to inmates, which includes the standard practices, methods, and techniques of barbering. You can expect to maintain order and discipline of inmates during work assignments and classroom instruction. Additionally, you will issue and inventory all materials and tools, as well as conduct searches to ensure all material and tool are accounted for.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment, 40 hours per week

    + Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

    + This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

    + Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

    + Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Special Requirements:

    + All positions require possession of an active Barber Teacher License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Barber Examiners.

    Other Requirements:

    + Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
