Our client is seeking a dedicated **Cage Wash Technician** to join their dynamic, fast-paced laboratory environment. This 6-month contract position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the cleanliness and maintenance of animal caging systems that support groundbreaking research in pathology.

**Job Title:** Cage Wash Technician (6-Month Contract)
**Location:** Philadelphia, PA
**Shift:** 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
**Pay Rate:** $18.00 - $20.00/hr
Key Responsibilities
+ Clean and sanitize animal cages and accessory equipment according to established protocols.
+ Perform routine cleaning, descaling, and preventative maintenance on cage washers, autoclaves, and associated equipment including filters and spray manifolds.
+ Process and prepare clean caging by adding bedding and autoclaving cages and supplies as needed.
+ Assist with sanitation and decontamination efforts throughout the facility to maintain a safe research environment.
+ Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and quality assurance guidelines rigorously.
Education:
+ High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience & Technical Skills:
+ Some knowledge of disinfectants and their appropriate use preferred.
+ Familiarity or operating knowledge of autoclaves, cage washers, conveyor belts, bedding dispensers, bottle fillers, and high pressure/steam cleaning devices is preferred.
+ Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment involving frequent lifting, bending, and manual cleaning tasks.
+ Comfort working with laboratory mice and following proper animal handling and cleaning protocols.
+ Must successfully complete all onboarding requirements within 30 days of hire.
+ Compliance with all safety and health regulations, including annual influenza vaccination (or approved exemption), is mandatory for employees working in patient care areas.
+ Non-use of tobacco products is required as a condition of employment, in alignment with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s health and safety policies.
Physical Demands
+ This is a physically demanding role requiring frequent breaking down, cleaning, and handling of cages and related equipment. Candidates should be prepared for sustained physical activity in a fast-paced setting.
