    UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a full-time Diagnostic Technologist to join our Night Program Radiology Team!

     

    This position follows a rotating night shift schedule consisting of two 12-hour shifts (7:30 PM – 8:00 AM) and two 8-hour shifts, which may be scheduled either 7:30 PM – 4:00 AM or 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM. This role requires every other weekend as well as select holiday coverage.

    Night Program Guidelines:

    * As part of the program, participants with 6 months or more experience must commit to working all full-time

     

    equivalent (FTE) budgeted shifts as night hours.

     

    * Eligible participants will receive an additional $2 per hour night program differential, on top of their hospital’s

     

    current off-shift differential, for night hours worked as part of the program.

     

    * Any additional worked day shifts (meetings, competencies) will be paid without the night program differential.

    * Employees who work rotating night shifts as part of their schedule, but are not participants in the night program,

     

    will not receive the differential.

    Responsibilities:

    + Review patient history and physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols to ensure optimal image acquisition.

    + Accurately document relevant patient history in the electronic medical record as required.

    + Administer oral and rectal contrast in accordance with physician orders and department policy.

    + Ensure all imaging exams are appropriately coded and tracked in the Radiology Information System (RIS), properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and that all associated charges are entered accurately.

    + Perform diagnostic radiography procedures independently, following established protocols and without the need for direct supervision.

    + Operate complex imaging equipment to acquire, analyze, manipulate, and document image data, completing procedures in alignment with established protocols.

    + Exercise independent judgment in adjusting protocols as needed, demonstrating initiative and technical competence in the appropriate application of ionizing radiation.

    + Clearly and compassionately communicate procedure instructions to patients, helping to alleviate anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.

    + Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from ARRT approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date.

    + Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.

    + Technologist cannot work in an outpatient setting until ARRT has been obtained. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**

    + ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist.

    + Must obtain radiography registry within 6 months of hire date as of January 1, 2025.

    + Diagnostic Technologists hired prior to January 1, 2025, will need to obtain their registry within 12 months of hire/transfer date.

    + CPR or BLS Required.

    + CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

    + Technologist cannot work in an outpatient setting until ARRT has been obtained.

    + If working in a NY facility, you must have received certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and be Licensed through the New York State Department of Health.

    + ARRT Certificate

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
