Job Description

The School of Accountancy in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University seeks candidates for Director of the School of Accountancy at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. This is an annual 10-month tenured appointment as Director of the School of Accountancy with a summer stipend and begins July 25, 2026. The School of Accountancy offers an MSA and BSBA in Accounting, in face-to-face and online teaching environments. The Strome College of Business and the School of Accountancy are AACSB accredited.

The mission of the ODU School of Accountancyis to be recognized as a leading provider of accounting education and to become a center of excellence in teaching, research, and commitment for business and community stakeholders in the Mid-Atlantic region

Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications

Ph.D. degree in Accounting from an AACSB -accredited university or international equivalent.

Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities

+ Research record that meets requirements for appointment at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor.

+ A record of successful teaching, both online and face-to-face.

+ A record of successful leadership in an academic school, department, center, institute, program, or similar entity.

+ Evidence of successful engagement with both the professional and local business communities as value-adding partnerships.

+ Experience with AACSB accounting accreditation process and compliance with accreditation reporting requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Professional certification (i.e., CPA , CMA , etc.)

+ Prior professional work experience in accounting or an accounting related field.

+ Expertise in in-person and online teaching environments

+ Evidence of successful engagement with professional and local business communities.

+ Experience with AACSB accounting accreditation processes and compliance with accreditation reporting requirements.

+ Evidence of participation in fundraising activities.

The Strome College of Business offers undergraduate programs, masters degrees in accounting, Economics, and Public Administration, an MBA , a PhD with concentrations in Finance, Marketing, Management, and Information Technology, and PhD programs in Business and Public Administration and Urban Policy. The College is fully AACSB accredited with separate AACSB accreditation for the accounting programs.
