This position serves as the initial contact point for POST Board customers either through walk-in contact, by phone or through written/ email correspondence. The incumbent in this position processes peace officer license requests and renewals, testing applications, and other items submitted to the board which may include various payments associated with licensees.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of
+ Writing, preparing, and editing materials, using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction.
+ Standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases sufficient to create, modify, and protect files.
Skills in
+ Data entry to sufficiently create database records and update entries in a timely manner.
+ Customer service to sufficiently provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to a variety of customers over the phone, in person and via email.
+ Word processing to develop and modify a variety of correspondence, records and reports.
Ability to
+ Communicate in a variety of formats to gather and relay information with tact and diplomacy.
+ Explain policies and procedures in a clear, concise, and professional manner to both internal and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with Salesforce software program.
+ Working knowledge of Minnesota statutes and rules relating to the licensing and training of Peace Officers in the State of Minnesota.
+ Experience working in a licensing or regulatory agency.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
