Where You’ll Work
This position is based in our Lenexa, Kansas office. We leverage a hybrid working model working three days in the office, two days optional remote work.
What You’ll Do
The Director of Pharmacy Benefit Advisory Services leads strategy development and execution to provide the most cost-effective Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) programs and services to children’s hospitals. Collaborating with hospitals and vendors to identify savings and clinical management opportunities through successful implementation, ensuring the actual savings are achieved. Leads the aggregation and insurance group purchasing contract activities related to the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) program.
+ Review and modify, as needed, the resources needed to effectively and efficiently run the PBM program which will include a combination of staff, consultants and vendors.
+ Use data to support and direct recommendations to children’s hospitals and other potential consumers regarding benefits/cost and methods of pharmacy cost control.
+ Direct the creation of all agreements and related documents.
+ Participate in all phases of PBM contracts and support PBM participants.
+ Oversee operational budgeting and financial reporting.
+ Manage communications between vendors, participating hospitals, and other partners, relaying issues and opportunities.
+ Maintain a thorough understanding of health system clients’ unique needs as it relates to the delivery of pharmacy benefits including, but not limited to, 340B, own-use medications, specialty pharmacy, and GPO purchasing
+ Help to educate PBM partners on knowledge of pediatric hospitals.
+ Keep the Benefits Advisory Services team informed on PBM activities and assist in identifying carrier and vendor partner trends. Ensure participating hospitals and vendor partner needs are being met.
+ Respond to and ensure timely resolution of PBM inquiries and issues.
+ Advise, recommend, and justify critical decisions to leadership and business partners.
+ Oversee the completion of periodic PBM audits and present results to participating hospitals.
+ Analyze PBM results and share trends and opportunities with member hospitals.
Required Experience:
What You’ll Bring to CHA
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field; PharmD preferred
+ Minimum 5 years’ PBM work experience, i.e., with providers or as a consultant with mid-senior level contacts
+ Ability to connect with national thought leaders including national vendors, consultants, PBM experts, and mid and senior-level management
+ Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret analytical data
+ Project management skills and experience
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to make public presentations and facilitate group meetings and negotiations with Business leaders
+ Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact with all levels in an organization
+ Strong attention to detail
+ Knowledge and experience of aggregators and coalitions
+ Thorough knowledge of retail pharmacy business and clinical pharmacy operations
+ Thorough knowledge of GPO/own-use and 340B pricing and regulations
+ Thorough knowledge of emerging trends in PBM
+ Thorough knowledge of pharmacy benefit management programs and terminology
+ Working knowledge of self-funded health benefits, services, and programs

This pay range shown is a guideline. Min: $104,000 Max: $227,000 Compensation is based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
