    Description

    Position Overview:

    This Senior Accountant role reports to the Operational Accounting Management Team in Syracuse, NY, under the HVAC Segment Controllership team. The contractor will play a key role in the monthly financial close process, inventory accounting, and strategic projects impacting operational accounting. The position also includes clerical and routine accounting support as needed.

    Primary Duties:

    + Perform light clerical duties such as payment matching, check processing, and preparing bank deposits

    + Handle customer inquiries, investigate accounting issues and complaints

    + Execute basic accounting tasks such as posting, verifying, and maintaining financial data

    + Utilize knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Assist with monthly financial close process, including preparing journal entries

    + Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations

    + Analyze key balance sheet accounts and reserves

    + Support inventory accounting processes, including:

    + LIFO

    + Profit-In-Inventory (PII) eliminations

    + Tariffs

    + Consignment

    + Excess & Obsolete (E& O) inventory

    + Physical inventories

    + Shipped Not Billed (SNB) / warehouse cutoff accruals

    + Assist with SOX compliance and internal/external audit requests

    + Contribute to cross-functional testing for strategic projects

    Requirements

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s Degree

    + Minimum 8 years of accounting experience

    •Preferred Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting

    + CPA certification

    + Experience with SAP and HFM (Hyperion Financial Management)

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    + Detail-oriented and organized

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    + Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
