Description We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team in St. Cloud, Minnesota, on a contract basis. In this role, you will analyze manufacturing costs, manage inventory balances, and contribute to financial planning and reporting initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with operations and finance teams in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory balances, and purchase variances, and prepare detailed reports for operational review.
• Maintain and update standard cost models for labor, overhead, and freight, ensuring accuracy during periodic cost rollups.
• Perform monthly close processes, including preparing journal entries, reserve estimates, and account reconciliations.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting efforts by analyzing cost data and presenting findings to the Finance team.
• Compile monthly metrics and financial reports to support strategic decision-making.
• Provide technical support for JD Edwards cost functions and collaborate with IT on process improvement initiatives.
• Prepare workpapers and lead inventory-related inquiries during the year-end audit.
• Partner with operations teams to identify cost control opportunities and implement process enhancements.
• Stay informed on current accounting practices and principles to ensure compliance.
• Provide backup support for departmental tasks and complete additional duties as assigned. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency in inventory accounting, cost standards, and variance analysis.
• Familiarity with enterprise systems, with JD Edwards experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical skills, organizational abilities, and effective communication.
• Knowledge of standard cost accounting practices and annual budgeting processes.
• Experience with annual inventory analysis and reporting.
