Job Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for daily operation of the warehouse department including parts control and accountability, receiving, shipping, and issuing of Western Aircraft assets. This position is also responsible for the overall day-to-day training, development and oversight of all Warehouse Specialists.
In addition, the Warehouse Supervisor will work in a supportive role to the Warehouse Manager in various ways and will include the duties of an Incoming Inspector. This position has significant responsibility in overseeing and participating in activities around the overall flow of parts and inventory within the Warehouse department.
Duties & Responsibilities
+ Review and update warehouse practices in line with company policies, standards, laws and regulations
+ Negotiate terms and prices with suppliers and freight companies, monitor and assess their performance, and maintain cost-effective practices
+ Implement logistic strategies, track goods from the origination point to the warehouse and oversee Western Aircraft consignees
+ Analyze the supply chain data; resolve issues or facilitate alternative plans
+ Identify process bottlenecks and implement solutions in a timely manner
+ Develop safety guidelines, train, and enforce protocols
Supervisory
+ Supervise warehouse specialists and day to day operations within the warehouse
+ Create an environment of cross-trained employees, and systems of quality assurances according to industry standards
+ Work closely with purchasing, MRO Operations and OTC Parts Sales to ensure proper handling/receiving and shipping of parts and materials
+ Oversee training and quality control inspecting, ESD Procedures, forklift operations, and HazMat certifications
+ Participate in staff management, performance evaluations, and disciplinary functions
+ Consistently remain cross-trained on all tasks and jobs within the warehouse
+ Fill in during employee absences and periods of spiked productivity
Inventory Control
+ Manage the physical inventory and inventory database through cycle counts
+ Ensure quality of incoming, stored, and shipped parts and materials
+ Support and enforce an environment of FIFO (First In/First Out)
+ Perform inventory adjustments according to management review
+ Provide management with reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
+ Create various adhoc reports and provide analytics to drive business decisions
+ Suggest modifications to the annual budget, as required
+ Oversee and adjust min/max inventory items as needed
Qualifications & Job Requirements
+ Minimum 3 years’ experience in a warehouse environment for a production/service company, preferably in the aviation or automotive industry
+ Minimum 2 years’ experience in inventory control function
+ Minimum 2 years’ experience preparing invoices, credits, and returns
+ Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role
+ Aviation background in Supply and Logistics desired
+ Strong mathematical skills to calculate taxes, freight costs, cash management, and invoicing
+ Excellent understanding of principles of buying, selling and order management processes
+ Experience setting up and maintaining organized, easy-to-use database systems for vendor and shipping information, purchase and sales orders, Hazmat information, and training records
Other Prerequisites
+ Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
+ Ability to obtain Airport Issued security badge
+ Valid Driver’s License
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
+ Work is performed in a warehouse environment with moderate noise level. The employee is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
+ This position requires occasional fieldwork where the employee will be exposed to outdoor weather and industrial type noise conditions
+ Working around and with equipment having moving parts
+ Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
+ Frequent standing, sitting and walking, balancing, stooping – often for extended periods of time
+ Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate valves, levers, power tools and equipment
+ Constantly requires clear vision to read printed materials and computer screen to accomplish work
+ Constantly requires clarity of speech and hearing, which permits the employee to communicate effectively
