Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the OPERATIONS BRANCH, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will act as the Assistant Chief Engineer (ACTE) - Non-Nuclear for the ship to which they are assigned. You will act as the Chief Test Engineer assigned to an off yard availability. You will ensure the timely establishment; direction and conduct of the Division non-nuclear test program and the overall work control and tag-out programs for the submarine assigned to. You will manage the nuclear support program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. You will provide full administrative and technical supervision to assigned employees. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working with technical manuals, directives and reports pertaining to all non-nuclear processes associated with maintenance, overhaul, modification and testing of nuclear and non-nuclear submarines and surface ships. Experience working with shipboard systems, work control requirements, system testing, shipboard safety, SUBSAFE re-entry control, and tag outs. Experience utilizing sound judgment in overhaul technology and engineering concepts in effective utilization of manpower for the ship overhaul process. Experience applying advanced principles of Nun-Nuclear testing to coordinate nuclear, combat and HM& E system interfaces. Experience working with naval shipyard organization and processes, to include the ability to recognize problems, visualize the impact of various courses of action, and determine what is to be done and who should be tasked to resolve various types of highly complex and project strategic problems. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
