    Our NOV Manufacturing facility in Cedar Park, Texas is recruiting a CNC Machinist to safely and efficiently set up and operate CNC Machines. This is day shift onsite work.

    What's the Job Like?

     

    A top-level machinist has expert proficiency in complex CNC machining, including multi-axis equipment, while independently creating and troubleshooting programs. Provides technical leadership to junior machinists, drives setup optimization, and champions key performance targets for quality, yield, and cycle time. Actively engages in process improvement, tooling strategies, and cross-functional collaboration

    PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist, responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as, but not limited, to lathes and milling machines in a timely, safe and efficient manner.

    + Operate, perform set-up changes and first article inspections on production runs utilizing CNC Machines.

    + Load parts utilizing overhead lifting equipment, proving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.

    + Identify problems before production runs, then start and observe machine operation to detect any other malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust machine controls or control media as required.

    + Read blueprints, precision measuring instruments and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerance and tooling requirements.

    + Maintain knowledge of dimensions and tolerances for tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and cutting tools to be used.

    + Prove out new programs and make simple edits of NC programs on at least one or more numerically controlled machines.

    + Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.

    + Read, interpret, and understand information in work order, Bill of Materials and other related documentation inside the job packet.

    + Perform work in a safe efficient manner within established work instructions and special processes.

    + Maintain NOV guidelines on safety, quality, and delivery.

    + Clean work areas as necessary to maintain cleanliness, health, and safety standards.

    + Champion facility goals for Safety, Quality, Innovation and Cost - seek opportunities to provide feedback on process improvements, cost savings, and opportunities to work more efficiently and/or safely.

    + Remain open to feedback and collaboration with other departments and business units.

    + Leads complex CNC setups and on-the-machine programming (including multi-axis and lathes with live tooling).

    + Provides technical mentorship to junior machinists.

    + Ensures compliance with engineering specifications and drives performance through KPI accountability and continuous improvement initiatives like 5S

    + All other reasonable tasks assigned with the goal of helping the team, operations, or the facility overall.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

    + High school diploma or GED

    + Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.

    + 5+ years of relevant experience is preferred.

    + Advanced knowledge of math, blueprint comprehension and routers, preferred.

    + Moderate knowledge of GD&T.

    + Knowledge of the proper use of metrology equipment, tools/gauges and cutting tools is preferred.

    + Experience with reading part drawings/blueprints is preferred.

    + Familiarity with measurement tools is preferred.

    + Computer experience is preferred.
