    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our defense manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MIG, and TIG welding with the ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings. You will be responsible for fabricating and welding metal components used in military and defense systems, adhering to strict quality and safety standards.

    Essential Functions:

    + Perform MIG welding on cast iron, steel and armor components.

    + Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions to produce accurate fabricated components.

    + Operate and maintain fabrication equipment such as shears, plasma cutters, and grinders.

    + Assemble and tack weld structures according to specifications prior to final weld.

    + Clean and prep for weldment.

    + Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.

    + Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.

    + Preheats the workpiece with hand torch or heating furnace.

    + Conduct inspections on welds and components using visual and measurement tools to ensure compliance with military and ISO standards.

    + Follow all safety protocols and wear proper PPE in compliance with OSHA and company policies.

    + Perform all job-related duties, including but not limited to the responsibilities outlined above, and any additional responsibilities as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)

     

    + Proficiency in MIG & TIG welding techniques.

    + Strong knowledge of metallurgy, welding symbols, and blueprint reading.

    + Familiarity with military/DoD quality standards and documentation (ITAR compliance, etc.) is a plus

    + Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

    + Knowledge of safety standards and practices in an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred.

    + Strong communication and teamwork skills.

    Education:

    + High school diploma or GED; technical certification in welding or fabrication is preferred.

    Experience:

    + At least 3 years of welding/fabrication experience in a manufacturing or defense/aerospace environment.

    Background Prerequisites:

    + Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.

    Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

    With or without reasonable accommodations, requires the physical and mental capacity to perform effectively all essential functions. In addition to other demands, the demands of the job include:

     

    + Frequently lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.

    + Ability to stand, kneel and bend for extended periods.

    + Ability to frequently climb – in and out of military vehicles and up and down ladders.

    + Ability to bend down and be in various welding positions.

    + Capable of working in confined spaces and elevated platforms as required.

    + Comfort with working in an industrial setting with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals.
