    Position DescriptionThe BCBA will provide behavior analysis services and develop behavior intervention plans for students with special education needs. Additionally, support and professional learning will be provided to school staff, paraprofessionals, and parents/guardians regarding behavior intervention techniques, conducting assessments, and developing behavior intervention plans.The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties, knowledge, or skills: Responsibilities:

     

    + Acts as liaison with the public and mental health community to support individual student development goals;

    + Administers programs and services for behaviorally or emotionally disturbed students for improved functioning and ensuring program eligibility and compliance with established guidelines;

    + Assists with student crisis intervention;

    + Assists in developing interventions, functional behavior assessments, and behavior plans to provide a safe and effective educational environment for students with challenging behaviors;

    + Assists in developing procedures and training materials for District staff involved with students with challenging behaviors to enhance programs for students and ensure that program operations comply with established guidelines;

    + Collaborate with school personnel, agencies, and families in coordinating individualized services for students;

    + Collects and summarizes behavioral data;

    + Completes all reporting requirements as mandated by the District, state, federal, and educational agencies (i.e., restraint and seclusion, assessments, behavioral data);

    + Conducts workshops, training, in-service presentations, etc., in classroom management techniques and other topics to develop skills and establish effective relationships with behaviorally or emotionally challenged students;

    + Coordinates handling of child abuse and neglect cases through contact with school staff and outside agency personnel to comply with mandated requirements;

    + Facilitates and coaches teams through the development and implementation of functional behavior assessments/behavior intervention plans and crisis plans for identified students;

    + Implements and coaches school personnel on research-based methods of classroom management and behavioral strategies;

    + Participates in the development of Individualized Educational Programs for students;

    + Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and committees to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions and remain knowledgeable with program guidelines;

    + Provides social skills instruction to students utilizing research-based methodologies and approved District curricula;

    + Assist with the development and interpretation of policies related to the behavior of the special needs program and services.

    + Develop materials, training, and provide resources for professional learning to administrators, educators, paraeducators, and guardians in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and/or other evidence-based methodologies related to addressing the needs of students with behavioral difficulties.

    + Train paraeducators, paraeducator student programs, and initial RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) training.

    + Performs related duties as required.

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Oversee implementation and ensure procedural integrity and proficiency of behavior plans and programming implemented by team members through onsite consultation and review.

    + Provide classroom teachers with classroom management techniques and strategies, including environmental changes to address challenging behavior.

    + Conduct assessments, including experience with functional behavior assessment/functional behavior aanalysisis using empirically proven assessment tools, and make recommendations based on these assessment.s

    + Develop SMART goals and objectives based on evaluation and assessment results.

    + Provide parent education to facilitate understanding of behavior plans and programming.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form using positive interpersonal skills

    + Ability to develop and implement positive behavior support plans, including reinforcement systems

    + Ability to create data collection and analyze data in a visual form

    + Ability to communicate with staff and parents regarding behavioral issues, including the training of teachers regarding classroom management

    + Practical, active listening skills

    + Ability to work effectively with others

    + Organizational and problem-solving skills

    Qualifications/Certificates:

    + Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred in related field

    + Board Certified Behavior Analyst Certification (BCBA) required

    + Advanced training and/or experience as BCBA, preferred

    + Experience supervising ABAs, preferred

    + Bilingual and teaching experience are a plus.
