Job Title: Distribution DesignerJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Distribution Designer to perform detailed design work, including the preparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates for review and approval by the responsible engineer.

Responsibilities

+ Possess a thorough knowledge of practices and procedures in technical areas such as Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control, Protective Relaying, Transmission Design, Substation Design, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Distribution Engineering, Surveying, GIS and Mapping, and CADD.

+ Perform design-related duties with minimal supervision, including preparing manual or computer-assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and minimal errors.

+ Conduct design services requiring a full understanding of drawings, specifications, and industry standards covering the assigned work.

+ Take an active role in preparing cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions.

+ Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations.

+ Coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to meet project schedules.

+ Acquire on-site field data to accomplish the design or to monitor and evaluate equipment performance.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and CADD.

+ Experience in utility design, electrical design, and distribution engineering.

+ Knowledge of GIS, civil, substation, transmission, and mechanical design.

+ Familiarity with protective relays and instrumentation controls.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate Degree or equivalent in a technical field preferred.

+ Minimum of 2 years relevant experience required without a degree for an Associate position.

+ Minimum of 5 years relevant experience required without a degree for a Designer II position.

+ Demonstrated leadership and technical capability.

Work Environment

This position is based in an office environment with the opportunity for flexible hours once trained. There is also an option to work two days from home, subject to approval.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.50/hr.
