We have a site leadership role in our EHS organization available which is accountable for all EHS program execution and compliance at our Manufacturing Division's vaccine manufacturing facility in Durham, North Carolina. The Durham EHS Lead influences site leadership ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, policies, and procedures related to EHS as well as industry best practices.
The person should possess strong emotional intelligence, influencing, problem solving and decision-making experiences. The ability to think strategically and act tactically through site EHS and operational teams is important. The ideal candidate is a self-directed, technically strong individual and has the ability to communicate effectively with senior management on complex technical issues and manage multiple high-priority, complex projects.
Responsibilities:
+ Plan, develop and implement EHS programs to assure continuous compliance with local, state and federal legislation, Company standards and industry best practices, investigate and mitigate risks across environmental, health, safety, and sustainability (EHS&S) opportunities. Ensure comprehensive change management of all EHS and Site initiatives to ensure ongoing compliance
+ Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainable results across EHS projects and programs, EHS assessments and resulting action plans; ensure identified actions are completed in accordance with identified target dates.
+ Identify, coach and develop talent.
+ Manage the team of EHS Professionals assigned to the Durham site and ensure their technical and leadership development.
+ Build network of EHS sponsors and support on site and with global organizations.
+ Serve as a member of Site Leadership team and provide both EHS and business insights.
+ Assure completion of required reports to site, divisional and/or corporate management and regulatory agencies.
+ Manage budgetary & capital needs to support EHS initiatives, projects and programs.
+ Serve as interface with local governmental EHS agencies and insurance carriers.
+ Evaluate, with the Engineering Department, the requirements related to EHS applicable for new projects and processes as well as changes in the existing processes and installation.
Education Minimum Requirement:
+ Bachelor ’s Degree required (should have a concentration in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Physical Science or related technical discipline)
+ Masters/MBA; Relevant professional certification such as CSP, PE, CIH, CQA preferred
Required Experience and Skills:
+ 10+ years of EHS or related experience
+ Direct responsibility in managing a team of EHS professionals
+ Strong project management skills, supporting multiple activities/projects simultaneously.
+ Experience working with EHS regulatory agencies and corporate support functions.
+ Demonstrated skills in complying with one or more regulatory programs: RCRA and High-Risk Work (e.g. elevated work, confined space, hot work, lock out tag out, etc.).

+ Ability to attract talent & build a strong team
+ Proven experience leading a site program such as Manufacturing, Research, Tech Ops function, Quality or EHS Plant Leadership

The salary range for this role is
$169,700.00 - $267,200.00
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
