Summary of Job Purpose:
The mission takes place in a context of transferring the MRO activity within North America from the SHERMAN acquisition to the Grand Prairie and Mexicali facilities of the Safran Electronics and Defense Aftermarket division.
The Director of Project Management Americas will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget with the Project managers of the sub-projects. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The Director of Project Management Americas will also oversee quality control throughout the project life cycle and be responsible for the site level Project Managers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive project plans that align with company goals and objectives.
- Manage projects from initiation through completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget with a team of Project Managers.
- Provide Weekly consolidated reports of the projects' progress. Delay, risk, Budget, Actions, etc..
- Oversee the execution of projects related to MRO transfer, ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with aviation industry standards and regulations (e.g., FAA Part 145, IATA).
- Implement and utilize project management tools to track progress, costs, and performance against the project plan.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including internal teams, airlines, manufacturers, regulatory counterparts, and third-party logistics providers.
- Identify potential project risks, particularly those unique to the aviation industry (e.g., regulatory changes, Operation and supply chain disruptions, AOG, and/or geopolitical factors).
- Assess and mitigate project risks; identify contingency plans.
- Lead initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within aviation distribution centers, optimizing processes for inventory management, order fulfillment, and parts distribution.
- Implement lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices to minimize waste and improve operational workflow.

Job Requirements
Required Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of project management experience, particularly in distribution centers or similar environments.
- Strong understanding of distribution center operations and logistics.
- Proven track record of managing projects within deadlines and budgets.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, Trello).
- Project management certification preferred.
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). - Demonstrated ability to set and achieve stretch goals quickly, while possessing strong people skills
- Fully Aware of the FAA Part 145 basics
- Experience applying Lean and Continuous Improvement ideas
- Understands and applies Quality and Safety standards consistently
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Office, Gantt projects and SAP
